Is eating meat equivalent to cannibalism?

Some animal rights activists actually claim, that somebody who eats a steak, just eat a kind of fellow.

For example, the organization Animal Peace and the author Helmut F. Kaplan argue this way, because animals would be “genetic relatives” of humans. As cannibalism, however, a nutritional method is only described when animals – or even humans – eat members of their own species. Otherwise all carnivore (carnivorous) and omnivore (omnivorous) animals would be cannibals.
