Butterflies are known to feed on blossoms, however, you can also observe them consuming tears, sweat, blood, urine, faeces, and mud. Why is that?

Note: At butterfly houses in modern zoos and aquariums, visitors will often experience that butterflies settle down on them. There are several reasons for this, one of which being the sweat produced due to the warm temperatures inside the butterfly house. For humans, this close encounter is very special. Correct behaviour is essential though.

If you respect the animals and don’t try to touch them, the encounter can even be beneficial for the animal and the person in any case. This works wonderfully in many butterfly houses, and they connect people and nature in a very special way.
