Malou and Kon have had offspring: no less than five babies of the endangered small-clawed otter have been born in Dortmund Zoo. This is an important contribution to the preservation of the species.
The German Wildlife Fund has elected the Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra) as the animal of the year to raise awareness of the threat it faces, as well as of necessary measures for its protection.
