The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) was able to release 35 specimens of the critically endangered Cantor’s giant softshell turtle into the wild as part of its programme in Cambodia.

A great success in one of the projects co-initiated by Cologne Zoo: the first breeding of the spotted softshell turtle (Pelodiscus variegatus) under human care.
Thanks to the conservation breeding of European pond turtles at zoos like the Opel-Zoo in Kronberg and Frankfurt Zoo the return of this species has been made possible.

Once again endangered black-breasted leaf turtles were successfully bred at Cologne Zoo – a great success for the conservation this endangered species.
