How do you teach an orangutan to breastfeed? At the Metro Richmond Zoo, a zookeeper who also has a baby helped simply by demonstrating.
Note: This is actually the most natural way of teaching the expectant orangutan mother. In the wild, they also learn through observation and mimicry. If for some reason an orangutan has not yet learned something, simply showing it is a very promising tactic. This success upholds the method.
