Mouse matchmakers celebrate first breeding success

In 2022, the decision was made to take pookilas from dwindling wild populations under human care in order to start a conservation breeding programme. By 2023, the work is already bearing fruit.

Note: This shows the importance of wild captures. If conducted by experts at the right time, they are life-saving and provide hope for endangered species. Many species have already been saved because of them, and more will follow. Therefore, it is important to enable zoos and aquariums sufficiently to conduct these wild captures.
