ZimParks Lament Elephant Overpopulation

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZimParks) reports that there are too many elephants living in several Nation Parks – especially at the Hwange National Park.

Note: Zoos can help or rather have helped with this problem on a number of levels. First of all, in relation to breeding management, as good solutions have been found in zoos, for there not to be too many animals. But also in relation to transport – to other national parks, as well as to zoos, as procedures were researched for this as well. These surplus elephants are suitable for breeding projects and a life under proper and animal-friendly care is far better than being killed. Alive, the animals can also do a lot of good for elephants living in other regions.
