Note: A lot has happened over the past few years in regard to the Ara macao. In 1995, a new subspecies was discovered beside the nominate subspecies described by Linnaeus. It lacked the green stripe between its yellow covert and blue flight feathers, making it easy to recognise. Loro Parque Fundación has been helping many different macaw species for many years.

Safeguarding the population of the North Central American scarlet macaw is another crucial step.
